What if my student isn’t following the rules?

If your student is not following the house rules, we recommend starting with a friendly, calm conversation. Many issues stem from cultural differences, miscommunication, or unclear expectations. Take time to explain the concern clearly, respectfully, and directly, and remind the student of the agreed-upon house rules and expectations.

If the behavior continues or the issue feels uncomfortable to address on your own:

• Document what is happening, including dates, times, and specific concerns, so we have a clear understanding of the situation.

• Contact SRS Support as soon as possible to let us know what’s going on.

Our team is here to support you every step of the way. We can help mediate conversations, clarify expectations with the student, involve parents or schools when appropriate, and guide next steps if further action is needed. You are never expected to handle these situations alone—we’re here to ensure a respectful, safe, and positive experience for both hosts and students.
